WordPress Developer

Flying Hippo is currently seeking a talented web designer/developer skilled in PHP and with experience in creating WordPress sites and plug-ins. Candidate must be an expert developer well-versed at PHP and SQL and a talented web interface designer with expertise in HTML, CSS, and AJAX. This role will work closely with the Graphic Design team building and supporting multiple web sites and web applications.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Interface implementation: you will write CSS/HTML, Javascript and build AJAX routines

Server-side implementation: you will write WordPress themes and plug-ins and other PHP code from scratch, work with and extend existing  plug-ins and connect to MySQL

Interface design: you will help conceive and develop creative solutions and user-experiences for our clients.

Requirements:

Must have experience with MySQL administration and development

Must be able to write cross-browser code (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome) 

Must have a comprehensive understanding of and experience working with AJAX and Javascript libraries.

Must have excellent communication skills and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Must be able to type 55+ WPM

Must be comfortable on the command line

Web Designer

Flying Hippo is seeking a qualified web designer to build whole sites or site elements for high-end web projects in partnership with our design and programming team in Des Moines, Iowa.  

Ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Flash creating original, creative designs and connecting Flash with back-end data via XML or other methods.  

Ideal candidate will also have extensive experience integrating site design to WordPress CMS and utilizing WordPress extensions.

The position requires design skills, but also strong written and competent oral presentation skills.

Hippo Groomer/Feeder

Qualifications: Applicant must have knowledge in brushing and bathing 2-ton mammals with delicate wings. Must be intimately familiar with feeding and mating habits of hippos and willing to fly to remote jungle locations.

Applicant must also have a flight license and good sense of direction in order to guide the Hippo into uncharted, remote territories. Must not be scared of heights!
