Walls That Work as Hard as the Students.

Founded in 1867, McDaniel College is a nationally recognized liberal arts institution and one of the select Colleges That Change Lives. But some of the spaces dedicated to changing students’ lives weren’t telling that story. McDaniel brought in Flying Hippo Brand + Digital to transform key academic support areas, including STEM tutoring, the Writing Center, Student Accessibility & Support Services, and Student Success. The goal was to give each space its own personality while creating a cohesive experience that welcomed current students and made a memorable impression on prospective students and families.

Making Space for Student Success

Flying Hippo developed attention-getting messaging and bold, dimensional graphics built around McDaniel’s green and gold brand palette. High-impact walls became focal points, textures added depth, and oversized rotating tiles revealed changing imagery for an unexpected interactive moment. Previously ordinary spaces became a vibrant expression of McDaniel’s student-first culture, making important support services more visible and inviting while turning walls, corridors, and gathering spaces into another reason to feel at home “On the Hill.”
